“Walking the Missoula Half Marathon” Good Food Store Seminar

The Missoula Marathon & The Good Food Store presents:

“Walking the Missoula Half Marathon”

March 10, 2008 Monday at 7 pm at the Good Food Store classroom.The Good Food Store will once again be hosting these monthly seminars, PLUS providing the fabulous food for marathon runners at the Missoula Marathon.

In Run Wild Missoula’s mission statement we talk about promoting running and walking. We have finally found a great way to get that walking message across through the Missoula Marathon and promoting walking on the Half Marathon course.

Walking the half marathon requires all the same elements one recognizes that goes with runner training: a smart training program, motivation, persistence, the proper nutrition, correctly fitted shoes, injury prevention and more. This will all be addressed at the free seminar. If you or someone you know might enjoy the challenge of walking 13.1 miles, make sure you come to this seminar.
The event is free, but seating is limited to 40-50. The Good Food Store is located at 1600 S. Third St. W., Missoula

Missoula Marathon and Half Marathon Training Program

Missoula Marathon and Half Marathon Training Program 2008
Starts: March 8, 2008

Get ready for the Missoula Marathon or Half Marathon with Run Wild Missoula’s training program for anyone. You don’t have to be a semi-professional athlete, former track star, 5% body fat, or logging 30 miles a week to participate. All you have to be is someone who wants to complete the half or full Missoula Marathon on Sunday, July 13, 2008.

The course starts with distances as low as 2 miles, but how fast you run absolutely does not matter.

For beginners, there is even a run/walk option. Beginners who have not run a step as of the first day of class will be encouraged to set the Missoula Half Marathon as their goal. (Yes, you can do this. You have six hours to complete the Half Marathon course and you have 4 ½ months to train.)The program begins conservatively but you’ll find the miles start adding up quickly, even if you’re a more advanced runner. By the end of this course you will be ready for race day.

With the Training Program participants receive:

  • Coaching by Anders Brooker, Cross Country and Track Coach at Hellgate High School (2007 Men’s State Champions), Owner Runner’s Edge.

Group Run Days: Wednesday & Sundays Wednesdays and Sundays will be your group run days. All runs meet at Runner’s Edge. On Wednesdays, meet at 6 pm. On Sundays, meet at 8 am. This can change as the program progresses, but this is where we’ll start.
