Race-day Packet Pick-up: Not a Great Idea

Any race numbers remaining at 7:01 p.m. on July 14th will be available at the starting lines of the marathon and half marathon. Packets may or may not be there, but the numbers I have as of July 14th will be there.

Any runner planning on getting his or her number at the starting line runs the risk of not getting a number at all. Registrations have been pouring in the last few days: 30 on Monday and 25 today (so far) from online, with at least another 25 paper registrations to process. There will be more than 460 half marathoners and perhaps as many as 450 marathoners.

And one guy to process those registrations and label numbers. My attention to detail is strong, but I may make a mistake or two.

Bottom line: I will cheerfully fix mistakes at the expo. Runners who decide to pick up numbers at the starting line risk not running at all, because the cheerful registration guy won't be there.
